Here’s a first update from Cordoba with some stunning photos from today’s trip to Navallana. It’s been 8 years already since my first visit to this beautiful reservoir. A lot has changed since then, but till today this spectacular place has lost nothing of his charm.
Spring is simply the best time to visit this place….
Of course, I was looking to continue where I left off 12 months ago, but it took a long while and some patience to record a first cautious bite. I was basically fishing the same spots and areas like I did on my last visit, using only Nuw Mouse and latest arrival Rowdy Hound.
It took me a few dozen attempts to get around how to play the latter, but thanks to the builder’s instructions and some patience, I found the right balance of subtle movement and forceful dives – causing high-apeal blurping sounds. After two soft bites and one near miss, I finally got rewarded with the first fish of the trip. A real fighter and beautiful colored fish…
After missing the magic target by just a few centimeters, I was eager for more, but again it took a long while to trigger the next strike. I was still using the same lure when a good bass rose from his hiding place between driftwood and rocks.
How I missed the thrill of Topwater Bass fishing!
Lure of the day: “Rowdy Hound” by Permanent Vacation
After about seven hours on the water, I decided to quit fishing – keeping in mind that I will meet good friend Enrique tomorrow for a trip to Embalse del Encinarejo up in the mountains of Sierra Andujar. More tomorrow…
